Off The Wall – the Champions Trophy
Veteran right-handed Indian batsman Rahul Dravid is now included in the 30 member ‘probables’ list for the Champions Trophy tournament. South Africa will host the game; therefore the playing conditions of the Champions Trophy are in Dravid’s favour, as the pitches will afford steep bounce. But there are questions as to his form, is he on top or not?
At the T20 World Cup India did indeed win the series against the West Indies, yet his frailty against short-pitched bowling was apparent. But Dravid has earned the nickname The Wall for a reason, the mulitiple world cricketing record holder can bat for very long durations and he bowls right arm off spin.

Sing’ for top bowler
Whats New to Sing about in bowling…exactly!
17-year old bowler New Hui Fen swept the games in Singapore; taking first place in the girls’ singles at the 2009 Asian Youth Games and her much sought-after gold medal. She grabbed Singapore’s first ever gold at the inaugural Games with her 1,359 pinfalls at Orchid Bowl. For New Hui Fen it came down to the 10th frame where she knocked down lucky number 7 for her spare. The gold medal winner also received $4,000 in prize money. Bowls: Fairfield women take top trophies
Trophy news from New Zealand
Bowls: Fairfield women take top trophies
They came, they competed and they conquered. The Fairfield Bowling club’s trophy cabinet now houses two major women’s bowling trophies.
There is a positive attitude in the club and the players are excited because Fairfield won the Bowls Dunedin Stuart Trophy for interclub Sevens for the first time in 35 years.
When Fairfield last won the competition, in 1974, it was known as the Stuart Banner. But there is no room left to inscribe new names on the banner and a trophy has been substituted.
“We are very proud of our team,” president Jean Bagley told the Otago Daily Times.
“I have a bung knee and use a bowls lifter in a game. The girls were afraid I might hit them with it if they played badly.”
Fairfield beat Andersons Bay 2-1 in the final to win the trophy. Read more »
